Fadhel Jaibi is a great Tunisian director who first presented his work in Asia at Tokyo International Arts Festival 2005 and significantly impressed Japanese audience by “Junun - insanity”. This year, he returns with his new production.
A young teacher committed a mysterious suicide bombing. Triggered by this event, stories of her family and her friends develop and illustrate today’s multilayered Tunisian society. The artistic stage filled with elaborated lighting and music highlights the overwhelming presence of human body and words, questioning the origin of theater. Although this drama of quiet resistance won rave reviews at its premier at the Odeon Theater in Paris, it has not been allowed to perform in Tunisia due to its controversial nature.
