r:ead (Residency East Asia Dialogue)

r:ead is a new artist-in-residence program that started in December 2012, open to artists and curators from the four countries China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan, who are working with free forms of expression and traverse borders between body, image and language in order to engage with society today in each of their countries. It is a residency program that focuses on dialogue and exchange. The participants stay together in Tokyo for a fixed period, and through research, share and discussion with the other members confront their own artistic expression. As a part of the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Program “Promoting International Exchange for the Arts and Culture”, r:ead’s long-term vision aims at the development of a communication-platform in order to share and raise the awareness of issues on art and society in East-Asia.
