An divorced African American blue-collar couple are in the process of saying good-bye, again, when his brother appears with the ashes of their dead father. Time morphs as it becomes unclear who is among the living and who has already passed away in this play. The play shifts and the story of violence in the African American neighborhoods of Los Angeles are paralleled with mythical stories of how man has been expelled from paradise. Will it be possible to perform this play and capture its intricate cultural background in a gstaged reading in Japaneseh? A new challenge for Shigeki Nakano, who works on translation of plays with his own style. |
