20 years has passed since the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which happened about 100 years after Anton Chekhov’s "Uncle Vanya." In the play they dreamed of a “bright” life in the future in their homeland. Today, we have 55 nuclear power plants supporting our “bright” electric life in Japan, and we are expecting an additional 13 plants to be established. What will it be like, our life in the future in the atomic world? Hatsumi Abe, who depicted the pains of Japanese society in “4.48 Psychosis”, sheds a “bright” light on the reality of the “labors” behind the nuclear power generation that we have little opportunity to know about in our daily life, based on fieldwork in Rokkashomura where a trial run of the nuclear fuel reprocessing plant has been conducted. A radiological accident countermeasures manual will be provided at the performance!
