Communication Program
\Inviting the
Audience to the Back Stage\
@
The following Communication Programs are to create and nurture potential audience as well as artists for the performing arts in the future by providing them with opportunities to explore the back stage of the theater and peek into the creative process of the work of performing arts. The decrease in audience numbers within the performing arts is becoming more and more serious each year. Although each of the Communication Programs is small, we believe that as a whole, in the long term, it will make a significant contribution to promote amongst the public an overall understanding of and stronger interests in the performing arts. The progrmas range from post-show talks with the artsists to excursions to the back side of the theater as well as visiting artists at their rehearsals. Following last year's success, this year we would like to expand the program to place an stornger emphasis on young people, especially students in particular, by sending artists to school class rooms meet the students.

Post-performance Talks
Directors, choreographers, and performers will
discuss their own work and their creative process with the audience
in a series of post show talks.
Studio Visits
Rehearsals, stage areas and other parts of the theater
usually seen as " off limits" to the public will be opened up for all
to explore. A rare opportunity to observe artists in rehearsals , to
explore the stage and back
stage areas, and get to know the "other" aspects of the theater. We
believe that, through such experiences, the audience will feel closer
to the theater, and also develop a deeper understanding of the work
of the artists.

With thousands
of services, activities and entertainments available throughout
campuses, competition is high to reach students. This out-reach
project, starting this year, therefore, places artists in schools and
universities, giving lectures and workshops tostudents. This year, a select
group of directors and performers from the festival will visit high
schools and university students at their theater and dance classes to
discuss their performances and hold workshops. This initiative has
been put in place in order to provide students with the precious
opportunities to contact professional performing artists, and also
create a network among themselves
