In cooperation with the Kitakyushu Performing Arts Center, first opened in August 2003, the Setagaya Public Theatre will be presenting FAUST. One of Goethe's more famous productions, Faust sold himself for contentment in life. His visions and love will be presented as an up-beat, stylish musical. Directed by Akira Shirai, twice awarded the Yomiuri Theatre Award for direction. Music by Toshihiro Nakanishi, jazz violinist and choreographed by Ryohei Kondo ,contemporary dance leader. With the lead role of FAUST, played by Michitaka Tsutsui active in stage, movie and television, and Mephistopheles played by Kazutaka Ishii renowned for his role as Jean Valjean. What is the contentment of life? Musical Faust is needed for people living today.
